2015 TVLS State Report Card Released

A Message From Mr. Murphy:

The students, teachers, staff, and families of Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools did it once again!  The State of Ohio actually anticipated lower student achievement and academic performance with the implementation of higher learning standards and online PARRC assessments (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) for the 2014-15 school year. Results for Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools show otherwise.

TV Schools met 31 out of 33 achievement indicators (93.9%) for a grade of A.  In addition, the district earned a Performance Index grade of 82.4% or B, which is a weighted measure of achievement for all tested students.  Only six schools in the entire state of Ohio received an A as their Performance Index grade. Progress or Value Added data which shows students’ growth from one year to the next resulted in an overall grade of A for all students, a grade of A for gifted students, and grade of C for students with disabilities.  A grade of C represents one year’s growth, so TVLSD is meeting and exceeding state targets.

Financially, our schools spend nearly 70% of the entire operating budget on classroom instruction.  Total operating spending per pupil is a very low $8,000.

These are astounding results, a clear reflection of the strong sense of family, care, teamwork, and vision in our school district.  I have deep appreciation and respect for our teachers, staff, and school leaders.  Everything we do great is a TEAM effort.  We will continue to maintain a relentless focus on what matters most (not a test, by the way):  Students…all that they are, and all that they can become!

I am so proud of our students, staff, and families!  GO TROJANS!

For All TV Children,
Mark A. Murphy
Superintendent

Students are anxious to begin applying what they learned to their own writing in the classroom! Click here to see pictures from the day.

Start Unknown, Finish Unforgettable

Start Uknown, Finish Unforgettable. Those were the words that adorned the Tusky Valley volleyball banner prior to the 2015 volleyball season. Little did anyone know how prophetic those words would become.

The Trojans entered the season as a young team with limited varsity experience. Not a single member of the 2015 team had earned postseason honors during the 2014 season. The Trojans were simply unknown. Twenty-eight games later these players are now simply unforgettable. Their picture will forever hang in the halls of TVHS as members of the Wall of Fame. Mariah, Ankita and Jadyn. Kierrah, Scout, & Abby. Jenna & Kayla. Clara & Sam.

Congratulations to the 2015 volleyball players and coaches on an amazing season and thank you for letting us take this memorable journey with you. We are proud of you!
