Finishing fifth in the Senate League with a 6-8 record and 8-13 overall, the varsity squad proved the sports writers wrong who picked the tem to finish last in the League. Carrying most of the weight of the team on their shoulders were two seniors- Mike Moore, shooting guard, and Larry Horstman, forward. Mike boasted a 13.4 point average with Larry scoring 12.9 per game. Although these were the team stalwarts, that does not mean the team did not play as a whole. "They played very hard and very aggressively. They worked well together and improved throughout the season," commented Coach Bob Von Kaenel."

The team came very close to many upsets this season. T.V.'s first encounter with state-ranked Claymont proved to be a very exciting one. With the score tied at the end of four periods, the game went into overtime. Claymont made a lucky shot at the buzzer and won the game 73-75. The other was against clas AAA Minerva. Taking Minerva into two overtimes, the Trojans ended up losing 70-66. Asked about the future of the team, Coach Von Kaenel could only be optimistic.

"There is a solid nucleus for a good team next year. However, they must spend time working on the fundamental aspects to be an outstanding club," he said. Taking place next year is the new 3 point rule adopted by the Ohio High School Athletic Association and the addition of another division classifying school size during tournaments. For example, schools such as McKinley will move to the highest division and the smaller AAA schools will fall into the next-to-the-highest joined by the larger AA schools, etc.

Receiving post-season awards and honors were Mike Moore (sr.), Best Offensive, 1st team District 5, 2nd Team All-Senate, Eastern District H.M., Larry Horstman (sr.), Best Offensive, District 5 H.M., Senate League H.M., Eastern District H.M., Sean Lake (sr.), Best Defensive; Derek Vaughan (jr.), Most Rebounds (148); Brian Goldsmith (sr.), Most Improved; Duane Wernecke (jr.), Most Improved; Brent Belknap (sr.), Mr. Hustle
