Friday, November 8, 1957

The inaugural season for Tusky Valley football is now officially over and by all measures is considered a success as the Trojans defeated red hot Tuscarawas 21-6 to finish the season with a winning record of 4-3.

After a scoreless first quarter, Tusky Valley took the lead when Wayne Rouf powered his way in from two yards out to finish off a 55-yard drive. Jerry Pullins' extra point gave the Trojans a 7-0 lead. The Trojans extended their lead to 14-0 behind the running of Walt Deubner as he set up his own 10-yard touchdown run with a 40 yard scamper. Pullins' second extra point of the night made it 14-0 Tusky Valley at halftime.

The Trojans put the game out of reach early in the final quarter as they march 65 yards on just three plays when Rouf scored his second touchdown of the night on a 12 yard run. Pullins' final extra point gave Tusky Valley an insurmountable 21-0 lead.

Tuscarawas, who had won three games in a row prior to Friday night's game, would finally get on the scoreboard late in the contest on a Ron McCahill touchdown run but the conversion was no good and the Trojans would go on to the 21-6 victory.

Not only did the Trojans celebrate a victory and a winning season, but they also held the school's first-ever Homecoming ceremony with Linda Mizer being named the 1957 Homecoming Queen during halftime ceremonies.
