Below is an excerpt from the yearbook
The 1961 football season was a rebuilding year for T.V.H.S. With only two defensive lettermen, the Trojans compiled a 3-6 mark. The five-year record now stands at 29 wins, 11 losses, and 2 ties. Our first game was a 30-14 loss to highly-touted Dalton with Boyd and Nemetz scoring T.D.'s. The first win, a rousing 46-6 victory over Conotton Valley, saw Widder rifle six T.D. passes--two to Crilley, two to Nemetz, one to boyd, and one to Gump. Next the Trojans fell 26-14 to Midvale with T.D.'s by Boyd and Crilley. T.V. Gridders bounced back by upsetting Tuscarawas 12-6 on a score by Boyd and a beautiful 50-yd T.D. pass to Nemetz. Dennison defeated the Trojans 28-8 with Crilley scoring. T.V. dampened the homecoming of arch-tival, Strasburg, 22-6, with T.D.'s by Nemetz (2) and Widder. T.V.A.C. Champions, Malvern, defeated the Trojans 40-6 with Crilley scoring the lone T.D. Following was a 12-0 shut-out loss to West Lafayette. Sandy Valley defeated Tusky Valley 8-6 in the season's finale.
