Finishing with a 3-7 record, the 1985 football team showed great abililty at the beginning of the season but ran into tougher competion as the season rolled along.
"Beating Minerva, a Triple-A school, 9-3, coming back against Carrollton after being down at the half, and having a defense that never quit" were the highlights of this year's football team according to Coach John Hurst.
1985 special award winners included Paul Dunn, First Team All-County, First Team All-Region, First Team All-Senate League; Gary Garbrandt, First Team All-County, First Team All-Region, First Team All-Senate League; Donnie Frey, First Team All-County, First Team All- Region; John Harris, First Team All-County, HM All-Region; Brent Belknap, HM All-Region. All were seniors except Brent Belknap, a junior.
