Trojans ended their first season under the lights with an even overall record of 5-5 and a league finish of 3-3 which earned them third place. "Except for Manchester, the PAC-7 was very competitive. We were happy to finish third especially after starting the season 1-4 and 0-2 in the league," commented head coach Dave Tucci.
Senior co-captain Trevor Burrier added, "Since there's not any more next year for us seniors, the season was a a bit disappointing, but the team never quit after our bad start of 1-4 to end 5-5."
"Season strengths included our experienced offensive line and receivers, when they were healthy, that is. Also, we had an improved defense. Numerous injuries and inexperienced offense proved to be weaknesses," added Tucci.
New to Trojan football was the stadium lights. They allowed games to be played on Friday nights instead of Saturday afternoons.
"The stadium lights were great. It really was neat coming out to play home games under the lights. It also wasn't as hot playing night games instead of hot, sunny afternoon games," stated Craig Newhouser.
Post-season awards went to Scot Selinsky (jr.), Best Offensive Back; Todd Kienzle (sr.), Best Offensive Back; Scott Aul (sr.), Best Offensive Lineman; Mike Adams (sr.), Best Defensive Back; Brad McClain (sr.), Best Defensive Lineman; Mike Dilley (jr.), Most Improved Offensively; Eric Tomblin (jr.), Most Improved Defensively; Trevor Burrier (sr.), Coaches' Award.
