Adjusting to a new head coach two seasons in a row could be detrimental to a team's performance, but not under the helm of Coach Dale Martini who brought his gridders to an 8-2 record and a PAC-7 third place finish.

"I believe the biggest reason for our success was the closeness and the positive attitude of the players and coaches. When I came here, Tusky Valley was already gifted with an experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff, and i believe my job was to put it together. The coaches were always committed to school system and especially the students," commented Coach Martini.

"I was pleased with the out come of the season. Coming off an 0 and 10 record, the season was definitely an improvement. The positive attitudes of the coaches helped a lot, especially new Head Coach Martini's offensive plays," said sophomore Jeremy Conklin.

"I had the time of my life putting on the pads every day after school and especially Friday nights. The atmosphere was so great that I believed everyone knew the season I've had. The coaches' confidence in us as players and as people set the tone for the team's winning attitude," said senior Zac Price.

Post-season awards went to senior Jeff Stark, Best Offensive Back; senior Cory Kramer, Best Defensive Perimeter; senior Zac Price, MVP; and sophmore Seth Duerr, Best Defensive Interior and Mr. Aeneas.

The Spell is Broken

"When the football squad set foot on Ridgewood grounds preparing for their season opener against the Generals, the grinders refused to allow the 0-10 record from the previous year to outpsych them for the oncoming battle."

"The spell was broken as the Trojans rolled over the Generals 14-0 to mark the beginning of a new era."

"After we blanked Ridgewood and ended our losing streak, I knew this season was destined to be nothing but successful." said by Assistant Coach John Hite.

"Throughout the season, the coaching staff was determined to keep the athletes' spirits high. Assistant Coach Craig Taylor fulfilled this task with a pen and a little bit of imagination. Regularly, Taylor would create inspiring phrases and write them down in the locker for the athletes to see as they prepared for a practice or game."

"It was a lot better to be 8-2 rather than 0-10. A lot of credit has to be given to the coaching staff who kept us going through the season and prepared us for the battle on Friday nights. They did an exceptional job

Jock Talk

How was the new coaching staff beneficial to the success of the football team?

Zac Price - "This was the best coaching staff that I've been associated with. Their confidence in us as players and as people set the tone for the team's winning attitude. They will never be forgotten."

Reid Geibel - "I thought that the new coaching staff was beneficialin many ways. I thought they gave us a winning attitude. Even though our practices were until 7:30 most night, I feel that they were a major part of our success."

Wendell Merrill - "The coaching staff worked with us as individuals and as a team. They kept us on our toes because perfection was all that would accept. We always gave it to them on game night."

What was the most physically challenging or emotionallyintense game of the season and why?

Cory Stewart - "The most emotionally intense game of the season was against Central Catholic. It was the last game for the seniors' football career at T.V., as well as the last game of the season. That night everyone seemed to go hog wild and it showed because we totally dominated the entire game."

Dave Lautenschleger - "The Manchester game was the most emotionally tense. We were leading at half time, and it put a lot of pressure on the players to try to keep the lead."

Ryan Lundenberger - "The game that stands out in my mind was our drive against Sandy Valley to win the game. I don't believe there was one person rooting for Tusky Valley that didn't believe we were going to punch it in. We did it with only 22 seconds leftt on the clock. I know I'll never for get it!"
