Another year, another season, another playoff game. Wait a minute! Another playoff game? That hasn't happened since 1972; 23 years since the Tusky Valley squad saw playoff action. The gridders traveled to Steubenville to battle Bellaire for advancement in the playoffs.

When asked the difference in competition in the play-offs from regular season, Head Coach Dale Martini replied, "The intensity level increased some. We were also not as familiar with Bellaire as a PAC or regular season game." The play-off game gave the underclassmen new and higher goals for next season. It was something the seniors had never experienced before and will never forget. "The whole game was raised to a higher level because of the talent of Bellaire," commented senior Seth Duerr.

A community pep rally was held in the gymnasium the night before the game. "The team appreciated the support. The crowd at the community pep rally was nothing short of amazing," commented senior Ryan Lundenberger. "We had a load of support from everybody. I knew the team was so pumped after the pep rally," commented sophomore Kurtis Whitling.

Good friendships and team bonding seemed to be part of the reason for the successful football season. Friendship carried through both on and off the field, making the team close and willing to work as one unit with a common goal. "The character and personalities of he players allowed them to work together. There has to be a togetherness to have success, and I know that is something we have," remarked Head Coach Dale Martini.

Leadership also played a big role in the season. Underclassmen generally need someone to look up to or go to for advice. The seniors gave the underclassmen that kind of leadership. "The seniors basically got to know the underclassmen, allowing everyone to fit in. We had great team unity," commented sophomore Kyle Whitling. Jeremy Conklin also had a few words to say about leadership. "As a senior, I think we helped the underclassmen and made them better without making them feel uncomfortable." "We encouraged the underclassmen to work hard every day. We were all underclassmen at one time, so we knew what had to be done," said senior Zach Salapack.
