Season Review
*** Information for the 1969 season comes from the TVHS yearbook and newspaper archives

The 1969 Tusky Valley girls' basketball team was the first girls' team in school history. The team was under the direction of Miss Paula Martin and competed in the Tri-County Conference.

The Trojanettes as they were referred to at the time won 5 of their 7 games including a victory over Garaway in the school's first ever girls' basketball game on January 31, 1969.

Tusky Valley stood at 2-2 after five games as they added a victory over Dover St. Joseph.

On February 18 1969, Tusky Valley would defeat Garaway for the second time by a score of 33-26. This game is significant because it would start a streak of 28 consecutive victories for the girls' basketball program, the longest winning streak of any sport in TVHS history.

On February 26, 1969 the Trojanettes hosted the undefeated Hiland Hawks. Hiland had defeated the Trojanettes earlier in the season but Tusky Valley would gain revenge with a 32-26 victory. Tonya Dillon led the way with 14 points while Becky Eichel added 9.

The Trojanettes finished their regular season by avenging their only other loss on the saeason as they defeated Newcomerstown 43-48 on March 3, 1969. The victory gave the Trojanettes a 5-2 final record and season ending victories over both teams who had defeated them earlier in the season.

Junior Tonya Dillon led the team with 134 points on the season for an average of 19.1 points per game. Sophomore Becky Eichel added 74 points in the 6 games that have her totals listed. Unfortunately, the Daily Reporter did not list a point total for Eichel for the February 18, 1969 game vs. Garaway.

The team finished in 2nd place in the Tri-County conference standings.
