The 1983-84 Girls' Varsity Basketball Team had a winning record of 11-9, the first winning season since 1979. The team's motto was "Your efforts will determine the results". Their biggest wins were over Lake, who tied for the Conference title and Claymont. This was their defeat over Claymont in a number of years. The last half of the season, the girls won 8 out of 10 games, losing only to Minerva by two points and East Canton by one point. The leading scorer was Andrea Beans with fifteen point average per game. She was also the leading rebounder with seven rebounds per game. Special awards for the season were as followed: Best Foul Shooter- Becky Rhodes with 67%, Best Defensive Player- Darla Chumney with 46 steals, and Most Improved Player- Suzie Nelson and Marsha Reed. Becky and Darla also received four-year letterman awards.
