Head basketball coach John Hurst has put together an impressive 63-40 record over a five-year tenure. Coach Hurst's most memorable years may be still to come, but being 37-7 the last two outings will not be easily forgotten. Included in this record are two sectional championships and one Senate League title. In '88 T.V. failed to capture the Senate by just falling short one game to Dover. The girls finished 18-4 with key wins over St. Thomas Aquinas, ranked second in the state at the time, and Senate champs, Dover.

Coach Hurst points to the Biddy ball program as a key to his latest success.

"Holly's class was the first to be involved with the program. Attending summer camps also provided the ladies with more talent to be added to their previous talent," remarked Hurst.

The girls once again reached District play beating Jefferson Union 55-31, but lost to a very good Buckeye Trail team in the first round of District 62-64. The ladies outscored their opponents 55.3-38.5 during regular season and 58.5-47.5 through the tournaments. Scoring that many points through the season is bound to set some records and the girls did. This was the first time in school history three players averaged in double figures. Kim Shellock broke the rebounding record as well as shooting percentage, while classmate Holly Rhodes set the assist record. Ashli Beans rounds it out with grabbing more rebounds than other freshman.

Receiving post-season awards were Jenn Ammons (jr.), First Team All-Senate, Second Team District 5, Second Team All-District, HM ALl-Ohio, Best Offensive player; Holly Rhodes (soph.), First Team Senate, Second Team District 5, HM All-District, Most Assists, Most Steals; Kim Shellock (soph.), Second Team Senate, Most Rebounds, Coach's Award; Ashli Beans (frosh.), Most Improved; Niki Vrsan (jr.), Best Defensive Player.
