The girls ended another fine season by capturing the Sectional and District crowns, and for the first time in the school's history winning a trip to Regionals. The lady roundballers also placed second in the Senate League with a 19-5 overall record.
"Our strengths were our defense, depth, team play and the desire to work hard every night of practice," stated Coach John Hurst. "We had only four seniors. They will be missed because of their togetherness and leadership," commented Hurst.
New to the coaching staff was Susan Mueller who assumed the positions of assistant varsity and reserve coach.
"We had a rough start at 6-4, then we grew together as friends to become a team. Coach Hurst and Coach Mueller pulled us through when we almost fell apart. Instead of 12 individuals, we became one group with a goal. We ended up at 10-5 with a District Championship. That's quite a turnaround. Teamwork was the key to it all," stated Jennifer Ammons.
Receiving post-season awards were Ashli Beans (soph.), HM All-Senate, Best Defensive Player; Niki Vrsan (jr.), Hustle Award; Monica Merrill (sr.), Coaches' Award; Kim Shellock (jr.), First Team All-Senate, Co-Offensive Player; Jen Ammons (sr.), First Team District Five, HM All-State, Second Team Eastern District, Second Team All-Senate, Co-Ofensive Player, Most Foul Shots; Krista Shellock (soph.) Most Improved Player
