A new season, a new start. New goals to set and reach, and plenty of surprises along the way. For the girls' basketball team, this set of unwritten rules applied from the start.

The varsity was a PAC powerhouse, winning the PAC with a conference record of 12-2. A large rivalry developed during the season between Indian Valley and the Trojans. Two regular season battles left the girls split 1-1 with the Braves. The rivalry culminated during tournament play.

"We were preparing all week. We were pumped and ready to go, but I don't think our heads were in the game," commented junior, Jenn James.

Another surprise came from senior, Dani Fishley during the Trojans' home game against Manchester. Scoring a record-breaking fifty points, she shattered the record set the previous year by her cousin, Tennille Burkhart. Dani finished her high school career with 1,191 points.

Post-season awards went to senior, Dani Fishley, Player of the Year PAC-7, Player of the Year District V, First Tea, Eastern District, Third Team All-Ohio Division III, Trojan MVP, Best Offense; senior, Trista Hoel, First Team PAC-7, Coach's Award; junior, Kelly Gehring, Most Improved; junior, Julie Finlayson, Best Defense; junior, Jen Hostetler, First Team PAC-7.

Jock Talk

How did the pressure of facing Indian Valley in the first tournament game affect the way you played?

Trista Hoel- "I was really looking forward to facing I.V. in our first tournament game. I felt that since they beat us at the buzzer the last time we played them, we would be ready. Unfortunately, we weren't."

Michele Gehring- "I think we were all nervous. I also think I.V. had more teamwork going on than we did. When we got behind, we got down on ourselves. No one took charge to get us back up."

Missy Levengood- "We were all scared to play and because this was my first year playing varsity, I was very nervous. When I got in the game, I did the best I could, but we couldn't pull ourselves up after we got behind."
