Below is an excerpt from the yearbook

It could have been the plot for a movie! In the beginning, no one was really certain there would be enough girls to field a team. It was a rocky start with the girls' recording a 1-6 at the onset; it looked to be a long season.

"No one was sure about going out for the team. Some were more or less talked into playing, so at first we really didn't have the desire to win. After we kept losing, some finally took the courage to turn the season around," stated junior Kelly Gehring.

And what a turn around it was! The Trojans, who were not expected to make it out of Sectionals, advanced all the way to regionals.

"We really pulled it off. We knew we could do it if we all stuck together, and we proved our doubters wrong," said junior Kim Wiss.

The regional game was a fiercely fought game against Minford, who ended up playing in the state finals. It was a pitcher's game and few errors on both sides kept the score to Minford -1 and Tusky Valley - 0.

"It was a frustrating way to end our year, but everyone knew we played to our full potential," commented junior Randi Burkhart.

Coached by Jodi Forshey, the girls finished 13-9.

Post-season awards went to senior Cheri Aul, Best Pitcher; senior Trisha Hoel, Best Offense; senior Dani Fishley, Best Defemse; senior Mandy Patterson, Coach's Award; senior Lisa Cercone, Most Improved.

What was it like to be the first team in TV history to make it to regionals in softball?

Kelly Gehring - "It was awesome! I was so excited to go to Regionals. As a player I knew I was going to do my absolute best to make an example and lead the team to victory.

Tiffani Penrod - "It was the greatest feeling! Having a starting position on a team that went so far is something I will never forget."

Melissa Bolitho - "For every season and sport someone dreams about going far in tournaments and to finally do it was great. Hopefully we can come back next year and do it all over again."
