With a young squad under the leadership of three four-year lettermen, the Trojan softball team ended their season with a 10-10 record.
The woman opened their season with three wins before losing to PAC rival Manchester. "The Manchester game was big because we beat them in our opening game, and it would have been nice to sweep them," commented senior Tiffani Penrod.
However. top league status was not in the cards for the Trojans. Ending with a league record of 5-7, the ladies fell to top teams such as Sandy Valley and Tuslaw.
One accomplishment the team was very proud of was their excellent game against perennial stronghouse, Strasburg. Keeping a close game throughout the Trojans succumbed in the seventh inning limiting the Tigers to six runs, while scoring four off of tough pitching.
During tournaments, the team swept past I.V with ease. However, Sandy Valley won the next tournament match-up 12to 1. Because of crazy weather, the Trojans were still making up regular season games after tournament. The last game against Tuslaw was a nail biter, running nine innings. Due to a Tuslaw hit in the ninth, the Trojans lost 1-0.
Post season awards went to Melissa Bolitho (Coach's Award), Steffani Duebner (Coach's Award), Tiffani Penrod (Top Hitter & MVP) and Kristine Himes (Top Hitter)
