The girls' softball team was a younger group and got off to a very rough start. "We began the year with four losses," said junior Shelley Roden. "But after our unfortunate start, we began to win some big games."
The ladies did collect some important victories. Beating good teams such as Manchester, Hiland, and Fairless was not an easy task. "I think one highlight of the season was defeating Claymont three times. They were rather good, and it was nice to sweep them for the entire season," commented Marissa Bour.
"One of our most challenging opponents was Sandy Valley" said Shavonne Edie. "We fought hard against them, but we couldn't get the win."
Along with huge victories over difficult teams, the girls had great preparation for their games. The coaches did an excellent job training the team for the season.
The girls had an intense camaraderie, and they developed friendships through the season. "The team was pretty close, and everyone got along," said senior Melissa Morris. "I think since we cooperated and used team work we won more games."
Post-season awards went to: MVP and Hitting: Kristine Himes (soph.), Hitting: Shelley Roden (jr.), Coach's Award: Marisa Bour (fresh.)
