Below is an excerpt from the yearbook
This year the Trojan softball team improved on the marks set in previous seasons. Their goals were to win the league and to play to the best of their ability in the tournaments. Unfortunately, they fell short of the PAC title. However, they have left their mark for future teams to shoot for.
Luckily, they were at the top of their game when the tournaments came around. In the sectionals they beat Ridgewood (3-0) and West Holmes (8-3). In the District finals they were upset by John Glenn.
"We had a very well rounded team this year, and they were a joy to coach. They win over Ridgewood set the tone for the rest of the
tournament . It's a shame we didn't advance to Regionals, but they played hard." stated Coach Himes.
Both Jenn Varansky and Kristine Himes plan to continue playing in college. Kristine has received a full athletic scholarship from The Ohio State University. She is the first Tusky Valley athlete to compete in the Big Ten. They were both voted first team Eastern district, and Kristine was voted first team All-Ohio.
The Trojans finished with an overall record of 12-7 and a league record of 6-7.
