The 1981 volleyball team was under the direction of a new coach this year, Karen Curthbert. Coach Curthbert strived for good attitudes in approaching each match. Her philosophy was to teach volleyball, not coach it. The season was not a big success but the team always showed their pride in a true Trojan way.

The teams most valuable player was Sherri Norris and the best defensive player was Julie Beers. Both girls were also selected to the All-Ohio Conference team. The highest point average award went to Becky Rhodes and Molly Miller received the most improved player award.

One of the high points of the season was an afternoon game played in front of the student body against Sandy Valley in which the girls cooly defeated the Cardinals 15-11, 14-16, and 15-1.
