Volleyball finished a disappointing season at 3-22 overall and 3-11 in the Senate League.

First year mentor Kerry Steffen stated, "The season was very disappointing. However, we improved greatly from the beginning of the season. The girls played as a team and never gave up. We finished the season proud of our team. Other coaches approached me after the matches and they couldn't believe our record was what it was. They were impressed with our girls."

With the experience of five seniors, the Trojans played well together despite the season record. Losing seasons often result from quarreling players and a team that can't play together, but not so with this team.

Being a first year coach can also have its problems. "It is tough coming to a new school and coaching a group of girls new to you. I was strict with the girls and set many rules," said Steffen.

The team finished the year by giving Coshocton all they could handle in the Sectionals. Our girls won the first game 17-15, lost the second 15-17, and the third 16-18.

"We are very optimistic about next year. The girls will be attending camp and we will also be having open gym this summer," remarked Coach Steffen.

Post-season awards belong to Becky Varadi (sr.), Most Improved; Carol Ferry (sr.), Coach's Award and HM All-Senate; Susan Martin (jr.), Best Overall Performance; Melanie Blake (sr.), Server's Award and 2nd Team All-Senate.
