Buekeye Trail proved to be the spoilers yet another year as they ended the lady volleyballer's season for the second consecutive year. In 1989 it was District Finals with two opposing undefeated seasons on the line. In '90 it was a young, inexperienced Trojan team providing an exciting match only to fall to Trail who went on to be State Runners-up.
With the score of the first game 14-7, the girls used a balanced attack as they turned nine serves by junior Robin Bowden into nine well-earned points and a one game advantage.
"Even though we lost to Trail, beating them one game was a definite highlight of the season," stated Jodi Weinhardt.
With only two returning starters, the team finished second in the league. Junior Heather Fishley felt the team did better than anyone expected and improved over the course of the season.
"At the beginning of the year, we did not look united, but as it progressed we learned to play together as one," said Heather.
Coach Weinhardt concluded with thoughts of the future. "With seven retunring lettermen, four with valuable starting experience, next year's team is looking great!" she exclaimed.
Post-season awards were awarded to Jennifer Levengood (sr.), HM Distirct 5, 1st Team PAC-7, Coaches' Award; Tricia Koehlinger (sr.), Most Improved; Robin Bowden (jr.) HM PAC-7, Best Server; Heather Fishley (jr.), 1st Team District 5, 1st Team PAC-7, Top Spiker.
