Below is an excerpt from the yearbook:
With their great season, the "Women in Black" brought home the PAC and for the first time in Trojan history, made a trip to the state match.
The "WIB" started off the season an impressive 13-0, then took a fall to Fairless. However, they came back to achieve a record of 21-5
The netters were so dominating, that during their 13 game winning streak no match required more than two games to finish off their opponents.
The Trojans had a hard match in the district championship when they faced their rival, Buckeye Trail. Neither the Trojan team nor Coach Lauber had ever beaten Trail, but this year both were determined. "It was a great accomplishment to beat them for the first time. We worked hard the whole game," stated Coach Lauber.
The next roadblock on the way to the state match was well known Columbus School for Girls. "They were huge and really intimidating, but that didn't stop us," added Shonna Holdsworth. The netters defeated CSG in two matches for their first-ever appearance in the state tournament.
"All year we worked hard for that moment and all the work paid," commented Courtney Selden. \
Even though a state championship eluded the netters, the honor was an accomplishment in itself.
The "WIB" had a cheer before every game - "Do it!" With their final four ranking, they can certainly boast they "Did it!"
