The Project Lead the Way students of Tusky Valley High School participated in last night's competitions at Kent State University - Tuscarawas. At last night's event the winners for the KSU competitions were announced and the bridge building competition was held.

For the Kent State competitions, Tusky Valley was able to secure some of the top prizes. In the Photoshop category, Britney Myers won third place for her project. Nicklaus Walsh and Nate Ackerman, as a team, won second place for their 3D-printed claw. Nick Walsh also saw luck in the Robotics competition, as he won third place for his robot designed on the Fischertechniks platform. All winners of first through third places won scholarships to KSU Tuscarawas as well as cash prizes.

In the bridge building competition, Tusky Valley saw a great deal of success! The top bridge for Tusky Valley was made by junior Nate Ackerman, whose bridge that weighed 17.4 grams and held 50 pounds achieved an efficiency of 1303.426. Nate was able to achieve fourth place with his bridge. Also placing in the top ten from Tusky Valley was sophomore Brendan Gill, whose 15.8 gram bridge that help 39 pounds, achieved an efficiency of 1119.627, which earned him sixth place. Coming in seventh, with a 12.3 pound bridge that held 30 pounds and achieved an efficiency of 1106.323, was junior Grant Gursky. It is important to note that the rankings from this competition are derived from the efficiency value, which is determined by figuring in both the bridge's weight and how much it can hold via an efficiency formula outlined in the official rules.

You can check out the official results here.

Congratulations to all students who participated in last night's competition!
