Last Thursday, September 24th, TVMS 7th and 8th grade students were given the opportunity to participate in an activity called “Junior Achievement.” Junior Achievement encouraged students to begin thinking about their future and planning ahead of time. The volunteers gave the students many helpful tips and planning methods to use throughout the course of their lives.
The students traveled to different stations within their hallway and at each station there was an employee from a local business. Each employee taught the students about a different topic. Some stations also had hands-on activities for the students to work on in small groups. All of the students got the chance to learn about a topic that will help them with their future. The topics discussed were budgeting, high growth careers, jobs, career mapping, personal branding, insurance, and information technology in a global economy.
The TVMS students received great information from all of the local business volunteers. This information will help the students as they continue to grow and think about their future. |
