The Tusky Valley softball team opened the season with a pair of losses to the Strasburg Tigers on Saturday afternoon at Tusky Valley High School.
The Tigers, who were the Division IV state runners-up last season, used a dominant pitching performance in game one as they defeated the Trojans 8-0 while only allowing one Tusky Valley hit in the game.
The second game featured more offense from Tusky Valley but it wasn't enough as Strasburg exploded for 20 runs on their way to a 20-5 victory. Tusky Valley's highlight of the day came in game two when Whitney Sowers drove a ball over the fence for her first career home run as a Trojan.
The Trojans will have a few days off before getting back into action on Thursday night when they host the Sandy Valley Caridnals. First pitch will be at 5:00 PM. |
